Traffic Engineering with Multiprotocol Label Switching

Description

Traffic Engineering (TE) is the stage which deals with geometric design planning and traffic operation of networks, network devices and relationship of routers for the transportation of data. TE is that feature of network engineering which concentrate on problems of performance optimization of operational networks. It involves techniques and application of knowledge to gain performance objectives, which includes movement of data through network, reliability, planning of network capacity and efficient use of network resources. This thesis addresses the problems of traffic engineering and suggests a solution by using the concept of Multi- Protocol Label Switching (MPLS). We have done simulation in Matlab environment to compare the performance of MPLS against the IP network in a simulated environment. MPLS is a modern technique for forwarding network data. It broadens routing according to path controlling and packet forwarding. In this Book MPLS is computed on the basis of its performance, ef ficiency for sending data from source to destination.A MATLAB based simulation tool is developed to compare MPLS with IP network in a simulated environment.

His first collection of poems and drawings, Where the Sidewalk Ends, appeared in 1974, and his second, A Light in the Attic, in 1981. When he was a G.I. in Japan and Korea in the 1950, he learned to play the guitar and to write songs, including 'A Boy Named Sue' for Johnny Cash. In 1984, Silverstein won a Grammy Award for Best Children's Album for Where the Sidewalk Ends - 'recited, sung and shouted' by the author. He was also an accomplished playwright, including the 1981 hit, 'The Lady or the Tiger Show.' The last book to be published before he died in 1999, was Falling Up (1996). In the early days of photography, many believed and hoped that the camera would prove more efficient than the human eye in capturing the unseen. Spiritualists and animists of the nineteenth century seized on the new technology as a method of substantiating the existence of supernatural beings and happenings. This fascinating book assembles more than 250 photographic images from the Victorian era to the 1960s, each purporting to document an occult phenomenon: levitations, apparitions, transfigurations, ectoplasms, spectres, ghosts, and auras. Drawn from the archives of European and American occult societies and private and public collections, the photographs in many cases have never before been published. The Perfect Medium studies these rare and remarkable photographs through cultural, historical, and artistic lenses. More than mere curiosities, the images on film are important records of the cultural forces and technical Traffic Engineering with Multiprotocol Label Switching ebook pdf methods that brought about their production. They document in unexpected ways a period when developing photographic technology merged with a popular obsession with the occult to create a new genre of haunting experimental photographs.

Multi-Channel Publishing with Metis

Description

This thesis outlines a novel approach for multi-channel publishing, set on top of METIS, a generic and flexible multimedia management framework. Multi-channel publishing in a generic environment demands consideration of both basic and advanced requirements regarding functionality, usability and performance. In its current state, the framework's content presentation mechanism exhibits some severe shortcomings regarding these requirements. The aims of this thesis therefore are (1) to expose to what extent the framework fulfills the premises for generic multi-channel presentation and (2) how to eventually bypass the existing gaps, ultimately paving the way towards a framework that allows for automated multi-channel publishing in a great variety of application domains.

Development Microeconomics

Description

Traditional development economics has recently been revolutionized by the application of new economic tools and concepts. Development Microeconomics is the first in a series of books which will look at the entire spectrum of development economics issues, combining the strengths of conventional developmental thought with the insights of contemporary mainstream economics. The main new conceptual tool used is the application of the theory of imperfect information and the effects this has on the the behaviour of economic agents. This helps to explain why perfect competition models rarely have success when dealing with developing economies. The authors also stress the necessity of balance in dealing with many of the classic problems in development studiesthe importance of both the individual as economic agent and cultural norms as the framework of social behaviour; the dual relationship between equity and efficiency in economic policy-making; the importance of market rivalry and the potential of market breakdown. Designed specifically for graduate students, this book analyses the key microeconomic problems facing the very poorest sectors of developing economies. It utilises simple theoretical models, and is presented in a compact and analytical form. High technical sophistication is avoided, and the only pre-requisite is some familiarity with the tools of general microecomic theory at a first-year graduate or advanced undergraduate level.

Vegetable Production in India download pdf

Kundu Suman Kumar,Mondal Debabrata: Vegetable Production in India

Vegetable Production in India

Description

In present times, changing food habits of people has lead to the growing demand of vegetables. As vegetable production is a labour intensive activity and has the capacity of agricultural diversification, which ensures rural employment opportunities; it has economic significance too. The country of India with a population more than 120 crores,is facing the problems of unemployment and food security among commoners. The vast diversified topography, climate and soil of India is suitable for growing an array of vegetables. The erratic and uneven nature of Indian monsoon climate along with varied input use efficiency in vegetable cultivation among different farmers in different parts of the country, results in a huge spatio-temporal disparity in vegetable productions. As a consequence of which the export of major vegetables is not sufficient to the mark desired. The Department of Agriculture & Co-operation under the Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India, along with The National Horticulture Board have provide some hope to a sustainable growth of entire vegetable production of India by initiating timely adequate measures for this sector.

Melting Down : A Comic for Kids with Asperger's Disorder and Challenging Behavior (the Orp Library)

Description

Based on dozens of intensive interviews with parents, clinical psychologists, teachers, and more, Melting Down is the illustrated fictional story of Benjamin, a boy diagnosed with Asperger's disorder and additional challenging behavior. From the time Benjamin is a toddler, he knows he is different: he doesn't understand social and emotional cues, does not know how to play with his sister or other children, and dislikes making eye contact. And his tantrums are not like normal tantrums; they're meltdowns that will eventually make regular schooling-and day-to-day life-impossible. Told from Benjamin's perspective, Melting Down gives a unique glimpse into the journey taken by children with Asperger's disorder and additional challenging behavior, demonstrating that the path toward hope isn't simple--but with the right tools and teammates, it's possible.

Tracks in Deep Time : The St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm

Description

In February 2000, while excavating his property in St. George, Utah, Sheldon Johnson turned over a piece of ground and discovered a fully preserved dinosaur footprint. That track was the first of many fossils to be uncovered. Five years later, the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site (SGDS) at Johnson Farm was established to preserve one of the richest and oldest dinosaur-age fossil sites in Utah. Tracks in Deep Time presents, for the first time, an engaging, thoroughly readable account of the history, geology, and paleontology of this important site. Two hundred million years ago, Lake Dixie covered this area. Within its waters and along its shores, a diverse ecosystem of organisms thrived, leaving behind thousands of footprints and other fossils preserved in layers of rock. Unusual fossils found here include the world's largest collection of tracks left by swimming dinosaurs, and one of only six traces known to have been made by a sitting, meat-eating dinosaur. With approachable text and lavish, full-color photographs and illustrations, Jerald Harris and Andrew Milner describe how geologists and paleontologists have painstakingly reconstructed a vivid snapshot of life from the Early Jurassic.

The War is over, won by Ender Wiggin and his team of brilliant child-warriors. The enemy is destroyed, the human race is saved. Ender himself refuses to return to the planet, but his crew has gone home to their families, scattered across the globe. The battle school is no more. But with the external threat gone, the Earth has become a battlefield once more. The children of the Battle School are more than heroes; they are potential weapons that can bring power to the countries that control them. One by one, all of Ender's Dragon Army are kidnapped. Only Bean escapes; and he turns for help to Ender's brother Peter.Peter Wiggin, Ender's Tracks in Deep Time : The St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm download PDF older brother, has already been manipulating the politics of Earth from behind the scenes. With Bean's help, he will eventually rule the world."Shadow of the Hegemon "is the second novel in Orson Scott Card's Shadow Series.

Sailor Jerry's Tattoo Stencils

Description

American tattoo master Sailor Jerry Collins of Hawaii is best known for his remarkable tattoo designs, blending the fluidity of Asian motifs into classic American tattoo imagery. Until now, most of Sailor Jerrys work has been controlled by a handful of collectors, seen only at museum or art gallery exhibitions or in short-run, self-published books. Here is a sizeable portion of Sailor Jerrys stencils, the newest tattoo collectible, spanning his tattoo career, from the 1940s to the early 1970s. The basic line work of hundreds of his staple and surprisingly beautiful designspin-ups, roses, bluebirds, hearts, and banners, and Jerrys infamous military/political cartoons. The stencils themselves were handcut in celluloid, vinyl or acetate sheets by the master himself for use during his day-to-day thriving tattoo trade in downtown Honolulu. They are, in the best sense, permanent tattoos carved in plastic, enduring through time. In their original condition, most carry residual charcoal dust from their last use. All are signed by Jerry with one of his several distinctive signatures. This is the only book of its kinda workbook for artists, and a design catalog for folk art historians. The value of the stencils is included, along with descriptions of stencils and their usage and a glossary of tattoo terminology.

Anthony Elliott,Professor John Urry: Mobile Lives

Mobile Lives

Description

How should we understand the personal and social impacts of complex mobility systems? Can lifestyles based around intensive travel, transport and tourism be maintained in the 21st century? What possibility post-carbon lifestyles? In this provocative study of "life on the move", Anthony Elliott and John Urry explore how complex mobility systems are transforming everyday, ordinary lives. The authors develop their arguments through an analysis of various sectors of mobile lives: networks, new digital technologies, consumerism, the lifestyles of 'globals', and intimate relationships at-a-distance. Elliott and Urry introduce a range of new concepts - miniaturized mobilities, affect storage, network capital, meetingness, neighbourhood lives, portable personhood, ambient place, globals - to capture the specific ways in which mobility systems intersect with mobile lives. This book represents a novel approach in "post-carbon" social theory. It will be essential reading for advanced undergraduate students, postgraduates and teachers in sociology, social theory, politics, geography, international relations, cultural studies, and economics and business studies.

Written by sexuality educator Cory Silverberg, and illustrated by award-winning Canadian artist Fiona Smyth, "What Makes a Baby"is as fun to look at as it is useful to read." In this bold and provocative work, French philosopher Alain Badiou proposes Simple Steps to Impossible Dreams: The 15 Power Secrets of the World's Most Successful People pdf a startling reinterpretation of St. Paul. For Badiou, Paul is neither the venerable saint embalmed by Christian tradition, nor the venomous priest execrated by philosophers like Nietzsche: he is instead a profoundly original and still revolutionary thinker whose invention of Christianity weaves truth and subjectivity together in a way that continues to be relevant for us today. In this work, Badiou argues that Paul delineates a new figure of the subject: the bearer of a universal truth that simultaneously shatters the strictures of Judaic Law and the conventions of the Greek Logos. Badiou shows that the Pauline figure of the subject still harbors a genuinely revolutionary potential today: the subject is that which refuses to submit to the order of the world as we know it and struggles for a new one instead.

Rhythm and Movement: Applications of Dalcroze Eurhythmics

Description

"Of the three elements of music -- rhythm, melody, and harmony -- rhythm has received the least attention from the theorists, yet it is indisputably the basic element without which there is no musical art." Such is the first sentence of this book on use of the body to express musical rhythm. Elsa Findlay is eminently qualified to write on this subject, having been a student of Emile-Jaques Dalcroze, the master himself, and also from her own experience in a variety of teaching situations. These included schools of dance and theater, colleges and universities, and The Cleveland Institute of Music, one of the first to offer a BMus degree with a major in eurhythmics. Each chapter concentrates on a different phase of rhythm: tempo, dynamics, duration, metrical patterns, speech and rhythm patterns, phrase and form, pitch and melody, and creative expression. Activities for each phase are outlined in detail and illustrated by charming drawings and photos. Appendices furnish further suggestions for exercises, games, action songs, and suitable music.

Nelly and Nora: The Fancy Dress Forest

Description

Won't the bare trees get cold? The sisters have an idea: they can "dress" the trees with the sticky, wet leaves! This picture book also includes a "leaf crown" activity at the back for readers to dress up as trees, just as Nelly and Nora do!

Chess is a game where profound strategic thinking must be allied with clever short-term tactics. Most previous works on strategy focus on specific aspects of chess strategy, but Lars Bo Hansen's aims here are different. He creates a framework in which the various elements can be systematically included and organized - a framework that will help chess-players to think about chess strategy during practical play. The theory of business strategy is extensively developed, and Hansen adopts the novel approach of investigating Nelly and Nora: The Fancy Dress Forest free ebook whether any of the vast amounts of research and modelling done for business purposes can be applied in chess. He finds that there are indeed many useful parallels, and focuses on how these ideas can be used to good effect by chess-players both in their preparation and when making over-the-board decisions.

Assessment for Learning in Waldorf Classrooms: How Waldorf Teachers Measure Student Progress Toward Lifelong Learning Goals

Description

This research work is an account of the assessment methods of Waldorf elementary school teachers. It also offers a full discussion Waldorf programs for teacher education, teacher evaluation systems, and requirements for school accreditation-these are what the Waldorf community submits as assurance that Waldorf teachers' classroom assessments are valid, fair, and reliable. Its audience is mainly a readership of education professionals; to facilitate their better understanding of Waldorf methods the authors translate Waldorf conceptions into the terms and concepts that are standard in the education profession for discussions of student assessment. Ciborski and Ireland begin by locating Waldorf education in past and current trends of education philosophy and practice in the U.S. and suggesting its potential important contribution to several issues in today's debate on education reform. They then present the foundations of the Waldorf approach: its view of the purpose of education, the Waldorf understanding of the stages of childhood, and pedagogical fundamentals based on that understanding. The authors then offer case researched documentation of how nine teachers, teaching grades three through seven in three different independent Waldorf schools, taught main lesson (core curriculum) subjects over five months from September 2010 through January 2011: how they set learning goals, carried out instruction, and assessed student progress toward those goals in both classroom assessments and formal written reports. Ciborski and Ireland have added here a new content: examples of the student learning standards that have been formalized by most Waldorf schools. These standards illustrate the Waldorf developmental approach wherein teachers of lower grades are concerned mainly with non-cognitive areas of development, with gradually increasing focus on traditional academic skills as the grades progress.

In February 1992, Newcastle United appointed Kevin Keegan as manager. Keegan, the two-time European Footballer of the Year, had played for the club between 1982 and 1984. He had been out of football since. His appointment as manager was as big a shock as when he arrived as a player. Exactly four years after Keegan's return to the North east of England, Newcastle were top of the Premiership, nine points clear of Manchester United, having played a game less. It would turn out to be one of the most memorable seasons in the modern history of English football. Keegan's side would play a unique brand of football and become known as the Entertainers. They would take part in a game at Anfield that became widely recognised as the best the Premier League has ever seen. Keegan would also famously square up to Sir Alex Ferguson. Touching Distance tells Truth: The Press, the President, and the Privilege of Power free pdf the story of that remarkable season, through the highs and the lows of a truly dramatic campaign. It also traces the seeds of the revival back to Keegan's first spell as a player, to his return and the dramatic impact he had on a football club, its supporters and an entire region.
